There is only one foundation belief that makes the difference in our lives.
That foundation is to believe with our entire being that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of our lives. God’s message to us is very simple and clear. God created us in His image. He created us and loves us so that we may live in harmony and fellowship with Him. We are not here by chance. God has put us here for a purpose, and our lives will never be fulfilled and complete until His purpose becomes the foundation and center of our lives.
The Bible says that we have been separated and alienated from God because we have willfully turned our backs on Him and determined to run our lives without Him. When we do this, we are in rebellion against God and this is sin—choosing our way instead of God’s way, and not giving Him His rightful place in our lives. The world is focused on self-gratification and results are broken empty lives.
The Bible clearly states that God loves us. We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19). He yearns to forgive us and bring us back to Himself. He is the only one who can make us whole and empower us to live beyond our circumstances. He wants to fill our lives with meaning and purpose. Sin separates us from God. He loves us so much and He does not want to be separated from us. He wants us to live our lives close to Him and spend eternity with Him in Heaven where we are free forever from pain, sorrow and death of this world.
The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). The price for sin is separation from God. We deserve to pay the price for our sin. “The wages of (or price) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
Because God loves and values us so much He comes to us right in the middle of our sin. “God demonstrates his own love for us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
He doesn’t ask us to clean up our lives first—in fact, without His help, we are incapable of living by His standards. He wants us to come to Him as we are receiving Him as Savior and Lord. Forgiveness begins when we admit our sin to God. When we do, He is faithful to forgive and restore our relationship with Him. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).
The Bible clearly states in John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
It is not enough just to believe that you will go to heaven if you are a good person, or say you are a Christian because you believe in God. Scripture tells us that even the demons believe that there is God. We must believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord. Humble ourselves before God and ask forgiveness and Jesus to come into our life.
The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Scripture confirms that this love gift and relationship with God is not just for a special few but for everyone. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13).
If you would like to receive God’s gift of salvation, you can pray this simple prayer or one from your heart:
Lord God, Thank you for loving me so much that you sent Jesus to take my place and die for me. Father forgive me of my sins for they are great. I believe that Jesus Christ is your one and only son who died on the cross for me and rose again. I ask Jesus to come into my life and into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. Father, I give you every part of my life. Come in and Reign over every part. Remake my attitudes and ways so that I can reflect your Son. Help me hunger for your word and be nourished by your Holy Spirit. Thank you for giving me a new life. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer for the first time, you are now a child of God. In your Bible read 1 John 5:11-12. These verses assure you that if you accept God’s Son, Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you have eternal life. It is by God’s grace you are saved and nothing on your own can save you.
