Beginning Treatment for Hepatitis C: Armor Up

I related my treatment for Hepatitis C like climbing a mountain. I knew my focus needed to be on one step at a time, not on the entire journey.  My prior two Hep C treatments helped prepare me mentally but even though I felt prepared in many ways, I knew I could not do this on my own.  For me, my reliance was on God’s strength, not mine.  I knew He had gone before me to prepare the way and was by my side every step of the way.

I wrote this message the day I began Hep C triple therapy on April 9th, 2012.

You are beginning the ascent of treatment for Hepatitis C but you are not alone on this journey. Remember the strength of God’s mighty presence goes before you and is beside you every step of the way. He has been preparing you for this time. You can do this.

“Be Strong and Courageous; Do not be afraid or terrified for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”  –Deut. 31:6 NIV

Rely on His strength. Armor up! Stay connected to Him daily through his word. Use scripture to fight the enemy of anxiety. Listen to Christian music and meditate on what is positive and good.

Write down each day ten things to be thankful for in your journal. Visualize the Lord holding your hand today. With a Listening Heart hear him say to you, “I am here right beside you. I am here to guard and protect you. Feel my strength flow through you. I have prepared this journey for you and you will be victorious. You and I together will do this and you will get through this a champion. My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. –Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

“With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.”
–2 Samuel 22:30 NIV

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. –Philippians 4:13 NIV

Dear Lord, Thank you that you have gone ahead of me to prepare this entire journey. May I feel your strong hand in mine. Help me to keep looking forward with my gaze fixed directly on you as we climb this mountain together. Give me strength, courage, determination and perseverance beyond measure. Wash your word and spirit over me when I get tired and weak. O Lord, God, if you will, please grant success on this journey. May Christ’s spirit rest on me. In Jesus name I ask and pray. ~Amen~

Over 5 years has passed since I began Hep C triple therapy, and today I continue to be Non-Detected and clear of the Hep C virus.  Treatment was full of challenges, but with God I met those challenges and completed treatment.  If you are beginning your treatment and climbing to the summit to the finish line, let me encourage you, you can do this through Christ who will give you His strength. If you are not a believer, may I encourage you to be open to finding out more about Christ and how to have a relationship with Him.  He is there for you.

      Hi Pamela,

      Treatment has 3 phases.
Phase 1: Preparation: Diagnosis, testing, researching about treatment, praying and preparing as much as possible.
      Phase 2: Treatment itself.
      Phase 3: Recovery.

Good preparation is laying a good foundation for treatment. God is preparing you for the right time for treatment and all that is ahead.
He is with you every step of the way. We are here for you also.

Keep us posted on how your doing and how we can help.
Praying for you as you prepare.
      Blessings,
      Connie

Hi Connie he r u God bless u…. I have become fan of you please come to Pakistan and see that how many peop
les became the mentally tortured to worry about there disease hep c…. The ratio of hep c increasing day by day what should we do to s stop this disease..???

    • Connie M July 18, 2014 at 12:08 pm #

      Hello Shahroz,
Thank you for writing. Maybe someday I will have the opportunity to go to Pakistan. I know the need for Hep C awareness and treatment is great there. Education, Testing and Treatment is a huge part of stopping the disease. Making sure people understand about Hep C and how it is spread and the need for screening blood and effective treatment is a huge part of the battle.

I am praying for each of these area’s for Pakistan.
Keep sharing with others about Hep C and the need to be tested.
July 28th is World Hepatitis Day and there will be a great deal of good information out there that will be highlighted about Hep C.
There is a great need all over the world to eliminate Hep C. We are all in this fight together.

Keep us posted on how things are going with you and your family.
      Praying for you my friend,
      Blessings,
      Connie

Connie, very interesting post today. You are a blessing my friend. I am afraid my body is falling apart piece by piece. When I woke up today I could not move my right hand. A week ago I started drinking non fat milk instead of juices since my sugar level was high. Perhaps I have too much calcium in my system. From now on I think it is best to drink purified water. I know that Lord Jesus is right there with me. God bless you and all the hep c warriors with good health. In Christ, Richard.

    • Connie M April 10, 2017 at 9:27 am #

      Hi Richard,
My friend, if you woke up and couldn’t move your right hand, you need to go to your doctor or ER immediately. This could be a symptom of something else or early sign of a stroke. Please don’t delay. Go and get this checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Praying for you right now. Keep me posted on how you’re doing.
      Blessings my friend,
      Connie

  6. Suzanne April 10, 2017 at 12:45 pm #

    Hi Connie,
Congratulations for all your accomplishments and I am sending virtual confetti to you!! The things about Connie I would like to say after knowing her for 3 plus years are 1) She conquered Hepatitis C with the older tougher drugs more than once. 2) God put on her heart to begin a Christian website where patients can find God, build a stronger relationship with him 3) encouraging people to never to give up and shared many tools to work with during treatment. ‘You are never alone was told to me so many times and wasn’t which enabled me on my second treatment to reach out where I received many blessings. Connie, you are always up to date on all the medications and work endless hours to help others here and touched lives by the thousands from good old USA as well as abroad. Personally today I do not know how I got to your website and our heavenly Father certainly led me there but truly was the wisest move for many reasons.

God Bless you Connie and making a difference in my life when I was at a low point with the help of God you pulled me up. Colossians 3:12 says, Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” This is you my friend.

    In Christ,

    Suzanne

    • Connie M April 11, 2017 at 11:10 am #

      Hi Suzanne,
Oh my friend, you have warmed my heart. My goodness, I don’t deserve such praise, but I in turn give it ALL to God who without Him, none of this would be possible. His hand on my (and all our journey), as well as the gift of the cure, and eternally the gift of life. We have this real hope, we can have life beyond Hep C not only here in this world, but eternally. All praise, honor and glory are his. This organization and website, were birthed from his leading. It always makes my heart sing to hear how others are helped on the website. It’s what we’re here for.

“You O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” Psalm 18:28 NIV

That’s what the Lord does through the darkness of our lives and Hep C, He turns our darkness into light.

My friend, Colossians 3:12 is one of my favorite verses I use in prayer. For this I strive. If there is any of this that reflects in my life, I can assure you it is all from Him and not me. I am a servant warrior like all of you and it’s a privilege and honor to serve with you. God has brought many blessings into my life through this long journey with Hep C, and treasured friendships with all of you are the dearest to my heart. God Bless you dear friend.

      Many Blessings my friend,
      Connie
